Life of Abraham - To Get There, You Have to Go There

Feb 1, 2026    Pastor Kristian Kilgore

We are in Genesis 12:4-9 today as we continue looking at the Journey of Faith in the Life of Abraham.

To experience God’s promises, we must actively move in the direction He calls, leaving behind old ways and places. Faith is not passive waiting but an active walk. Like Abram, obedience turns God’s word into reality in our lives.

In this passage we see something simple but profound here, after God speaks to Abram, the patriarch responds. Because if you want to get there, you've got to go there!

Watch for these ideas and put them into action in your life!

==> Reaching God’s destination requires intentional movement.

==> Often, procrastination’s main ally is “preparation paralysis”—.we overanalyze and fail to move forward.

==> Abram’s story in Genesis 12:4-9 is saturated with movement: 6 times in 6 verse we see the language of momentum: (“went,” “departed,” “set out,” “passed through,” “moved,” “journeyed on").

==> When God calls us to move, He supplies what we need—renewal for weariness and motivation for the journey.

==> Faith without works—without walking—does not work; acting on God’s word proves our faith.
